There was a time when SONY’s Walkman was a rage. Today, although the idea has been retained, the device has been replaced by something more advanced and detailed. Today people prefer MP3 players and iPods for reasons more than one. So is the story of desktops. As such, an inevitable question would be about the future of desktops. And while purchasing, which one should you buy? Today we’ll try to crack the answer to this much debated question. Read on…
Circular world: In the world of computers older things resurface. Consider the case of the size of the monitor. Previously, when mainframes were introduced, monitor screens were huge. Then started the trend of small screen monitors which were transportable. Dell came up with its “Inspiron” series that had screen sizes as small as 11.6 inches. Save money by referring to certain websites that offer Dell offer codes with discount vouchers of up to 7%. Today again, people are going for larger screen in laptops and even their smart phones. So it is incorrect to say that desktops are dead.
Desktop accessories: Computers have ruled our lives. This is a generation that is being raised on tablets and laptops running on touchscreen technology. It can therefore be said that though the big screen of desktops can come back to the arena, there is little scope for desktop accessories to rebuild its position. In which case, people can save money as they will no longer need to invest in multiple accessories.
Screen Angle orientation: If desktops do not alter the angular orientation of their screens, it is likely that people will prefer to purchase a laptop or tablet that offers them the flexibility to work from any place and any position. So what’s the way out here? The option is wireless keyboards and mouse that offers limited flexibility. By using discount vouchers such accessories could be bought on any e-commerce site. Dell’s KM632 is one such product.
So where does the desktop stand in the future? There are several who feel that updated technology and devices, the internet and cloud computing, smartphones, tablets and so on have evolved so much that there is little scope for the desktop to survive in the tally. Additionally, these updated devices offer its user privacy, bandwidth and ease of transporting. So does that mean that the desktop is dead? The answer to that question cannot be an absolute one or close ended. Desktops will continue to exist where its presence is mandatory, such as newsrooms, administrative offices (where the same system is being shared by multiple people) and so on. Though in a skeletal structure, some form of desktops will remain in the future following timely upgrades.
So then- What to buy?
Choose between a laptop and a tablet. However, before taking the plunge do consider these aspects;
Budget: Usually laptops are more expensive than tablets. Additionally they require external internet connection which will cost extra. Tablets however run on internal Wi-Fi or data packs which are offered at reasonable prices.
Function; Tablets are actually for entertainment- read books, listen to music, watch videos etc. Laptops are used for actual MS work! So think about your purpose before purchasing.
Frequency of use: Most tablets are lightweight and can be carried around easily. Laptops are a lot heavier and bigger as they are used for official work. So consider the options of size and weight before purchasing.
Based on these factors a call can be taken as to what needs to be purchased. And if you are in possession of a Dell voucher use it immediately and save money!
