It looks like iOS 7.1 will be getting updated “any day now’ according to John Gruber of Daring Fireball, a well informed source on all of Apple’s plans and products. We have seen five betas for the small 0.1 update come from Apple in the past few months, pointing to an update sometime this month.Apple has announced it and The main reason why Gruber believes Apple will bring iOS 7.1 this month is due to SXSW, where Apple will series of performances of the iTunes Festival. Considering SXSW starts on March 11, Apple needs to update their operating system in order to stream the performances.
However, iOS 7.1 does not have that many changes, Apple has worked on fixing most of the errors and small issues with their big visual update, including upgrading of shift and caps lock keys and little reworks of Phone, FaceTime, and Messages app icons. The biggest change will be on the phone dialer, Apple has made a number of small tweaks to the appearance. Google recently reworked the phone dialer on Android, adding a sort of Yellow Pages search into the app.
Wether iOS 8 or iOS 7.2 should add fitness applications and SDK’s onto the platform for developers and users and we may see some new services from
Apple and better integration with cars and wearables. In the process, the inclusion of MDM functionality in the recent iOS 7.1 beta, as well as the OS X Server 3.1 Preview, suggest Apple may be nearing a release for its latest iOS update.
This all sounds promising, and if the publication’s sources are accurate still, a release date of “around March 15” is penciled in for iOS 7.1. This falls in line with several other reports indicating that March is the month we’ll see the updated mobile OS reach users.
